Buon pomeriggio cari amici...!!!
Questa volta voglio condividere con voi questa penna stilografica Sheaffer's Valiant Touchdown del 49, chiamata anche "Sheaffer's Valiant First Year", in quanto è il modello di penna stilografica in cui il marchio introduce per la prima volta il sistema di carico dell'inchiostro touch down.
Come si vede la stilografica ha diverse particolarità, la prima è il suo diametro (per me il diametro ideale), che le permette un'ottima presa, e che finirà per essere più piccola nei successivi modelli TM, e rinascerà più tardi nei modelli PFM di diametro maggiore.
Un'altra caratteristica unica è il visore di inchiostro sull'impugnatura, che insieme a quel maestoso pennino conico rigido, realizzato in lega d'oro con una maschera di platino, produce una bellezza e una sensazione di solidità raramente viste...
È interessante anche evidenziare la capacità di carico dell'inchiostro, che finisce per essere, anche con una corsa del pistone più piccola, molto più alta rispetto al carico dei successivi modelli TM...
Da segnalare infine anche il dettaglio del "white dot" o "Lifetime", segno di garanzia a vita, che in questa occasione appare fuso con il materiale del cappuccio...
La penna stilografica è arrivata nella mia collezione in condizioni accettabili, molto sporca e con inchiostro secco, senza o'ring né sacca di inchiostro, e con deformazioni abbastanza visibili sul corpo, ma dopo una buona pulizia posizionare la sacca di inchiostro e l'o'ring, e una rielaborazione di carteggiatura del corpo cercando di non perdere l'imprint, una lucidatura e lucentezza, era in condizioni soddisfacenti, con un meraviglioso flusso di inchiostro e una grande scorrevolezza nella scrittura...
L'inchiostro è stato una preparazione di tre inchiostri Lamy, Mango con Rosso e alcune gocce di Turchese per ottenere un colore finale ocra morbido...

Another unique feature is the ink viewer on the grip, which together with that majestic rigid conical nib, made of gold alloy with a platinum mask, produces a beauty and a feeling of solidity rarely seen...
It is also interesting to highlight the ink loading capacity, which ends up being, even with a smaller piston stroke, much higher than the loading of the later TM models...
Finally, also to point out, the detail of the "white dot" or "life time", a lifetime guarantee sign, which on this occasion appears fused with the cap material...
The fountain pen arrived in my collection in acceptable condition, very dirty and with dry ink, without o'ring or ink sack, and with quite visible deformations on the body, but after a good cleaning, place the ink sack and the o'ring, and a rework of sanding the body trying not to lose the imprint, a polish and luster, it was in satisfactory condition, with a wonderful flow of ink and a great smoothness in the writing...
The ink has been a preparation of three Lamy inks, Mango with Red, and a few drops of Turquoise to achieve a soft ocher final color...
