And then we come to the saddest part... the barrel had several cracks at the height of the thread with the grip, one of these cracks being quite prominent and dangerous...
Luckily, Permanite (celluloid developed by Dupont for Parker) dissolves and bonds quite well with cyanoacrylate or acetone, so by respecting the internal and external threads of the barrel, a fairly satisfactory job could be done...
In order not to lose and respect these threads, in the case of the internal thread, I used the thread of the same grip as an internal mold, carefully protected with Teflon tape, which after gently placing a drop of cyanoacrylate on the internal threaded part of the barrel, I quickly screwed on the grip...
To respect the external thread of the barrel, I quickly and firmly wrapped it with Teflon tape, and waited half an hour for all the cyanoacrylate to finish setting...
Then it was just removing the external Teflon tape, and unscrewing the grip, cleaning and removing any possible Teflon residue that could remain on the thread fillets...
Now, one of the causes of this breakage of the barrel was surely due to the effort that the internal metal strip made when it was "nailed" between the thread of the grip and the thread of the barrel, working as a wedge, and forcing the materials. ..
Unfortunately, in the previous models, there was an internal step in the barrel, where the metal strip was nailed, but it was removed with the consequences that appeared...
To avoid this again, a brass cup was placed in the grip, where the metal strip anchors, without letting it work as a wedge between the threads...
